You love Slots with a Chinese flair? Then you will surely like "Dragon & Phoenix" because of its Asian look. But can the game also convince in terms of its features? My test report tells you.

Design

As already mentioned, “Dragon & Phoenix” has a typical Asian look. But even if the design is pretty to look at, it looks a bit unimaginative on the whole. You just get the feeling that you've seen slots of this type countless times. Which is only reinforced by the omnipresent playing card symbols, which actually have nothing to do with Asia. Every now and then there are some nice animations on the field, but you shouldn't expect much more variety here.

Gameplay

"Dragon & Phoenix" is a representative of the classic slot games with 5 reels on 3 rows, on which in turn 20 fixed paylines are distributed. If you want to win money here, you should be able to collect at least three identical symbols from left to right on a payline. Ideally, of course, there are five identical symbols. The dragon and the phoenix are particularly valuable in this game. Because both pay out 500 times the previous stake when they are present five times. The playing card symbols already briefly mentioned can be safely disregarded due to their very manageable winnings. Much more interesting, however, are the medium-priced symbols such as the crystal ball, the dragon statue or the temple.

What I liked about "Dragon & Phoenix" is that Betsoft has given the game several innovative features that significantly increase the fun of the game and the chances of winning. This is:

Expanding wild symbol

As the Wild symbol An imperial couple acts in the game. This is able to substitute for all other symbols in the game, except the Scatter, to trigger additional winning combinations. That's really interesting Wild symbol however, when it lands on reels 2 and 5. Admittedly, it is very unlikely that only scatter symbols will land on the entire playing field. But the feature itself is quite interesting. Incidentally, after they appear, the scatters disappear, so that more symbols move up from above. Ideally, these can also bring you a nice profit. A shame: The free game round that starts after the scatter does not differ from the actual main game.

Small and big bets

If you prefer to try “Dragon & Phoenix” in peace with small stakes, this is possible from a fair 20 cents. However, you can also risk a maximum of 20 euros per spin. "Dragon & Phoenix" by Betsoft does not come with the most original design, but convinces with its many features that enhance the game extensively. Above all the Chinese lucky tree and the expanding wild symbol. Only in the free game round would you have wished for a little more variety compared to the main game. Otherwise, "Dragon & Phoenix" should definitely appeal to fans of Asian slots.
